Accepting Islam is a win-win situation for everybody. When a
person makes a conscious decision to accept Islam, it immediately opens up his
mind to specific, new knowledge (a Criterion) with which to examine his
lifestyle.
“In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
Alif Lam Mim.
This is the Book; in it is guidance sure (without doubt) for those who
fear Allah;
Who believe in the Unseen; are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of
what We have provided for them;
And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee (Muhammad) and sent
before thee,
And (in their hearts) have assurance of the Hereafter.
They are on True Guidance from their Lord; and it is these who will
prosper.”
(Quran 2: 1 – 5)
The immediate
effect of this new knowledge on a believer is that of entering a well-lit
room after being enclosed in a dark place for a long time. This effect does not
diminish with time but continues to increase with constant
study and application of the teachings of the Quran. It causes the believer to actually see matters as
they really are, not as the gullible masses are made to think they are.
Previously “normal, harmless” behaviors are seen in their true perspective,
not their “fun” perspective. The believer looks at their effects on society
and chooses to eliminate those with negative effects, regardless of their “fun”
factor.
Islam changes a believer’s entire outlook on Life.
Life becomes a serious, precious, clearly-defined business, no longer a
mixed bag of trivial distractions, useless heroes and imaginary gods. Islam
teaches the believer with the Quran
(a
collection of revelations over a 23 year period) and the life
example of the Messenger, Muhammad
Mustafa. Thus the believer has a
solid footing for resolving every problem with which he is confronted. To further
underscore the ultimate goal for which the believer is striving, throughout the
Quran, Allah continuously gives multiple assurances as to the
outcome of following the guidance.
“In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
But give Glad Tidings to those who believe and work righteousness
That their portion is Gardens (Paradise) beneath which rivers flow…
And they have therein companions pure (and holy)
And they abide therein forever.”
(Quran 2: 25)
“Nay, they who seek gain in Evil and are girt round by their Sins: -
they are Companions of the Fire (Hell);
Therein shall they abide Forever.
But those who believe and work righteousness: - they are Companions of
the Garden (Paradise);
Therein shall they abide Forever.”
(Quran 2: 81-82)
Islam focuses the
believer’s mind and heart on the true purpose of life here on
Earth. It points out the futility of living your already-known,
temporary life here grasping after and collecting material things as if
this life was eternal. The Quran
clarifies for all believers that earth-life is not the totality of human life
but only 1 phase in the saga of Life. It teaches believers how
to balance their actions with their subsistence desires and needs so as
not to cause harm or confusion to Earth’s environment or go astray from their ultimate
goal. It also highlights Man’s accountability to the Creator Supreme
for every action (and its intent) taken while living in the earth environment. It
promises great rewards for obedient believers and stunning punishments for
disobedient and arrogant people on a Day
of Judgment in humanity’s future.
“In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
But what is the reward for those among you who behave like this, but
disgrace in this life?
And on the Day of Judgment, they shall be consigned to the most
grievous penalty
For Allah is not unmindful of what you do.
These are people who buy the life of this world at the price of the
Hereafter:
Their penalty shall not be lightened, nor shall they be helped.
(Quran 2: 85-86)
Then guard yourselves against a Day when one soul shall not avail
another;
Nor shall intercession be accepted for her;
Nor shall compensation be taken from her;
Nor shall anyone be helped (from outside).”
(Quran 2: 48)
Islam clarifies
for all people Who is teaching and
why. Allah’s message (the Quran) labels
itself “the book that makes things clear”
and backs up that label 1000%. Every passage is loaded with wisdom,
clarifying for its sincere students the various signs of Allah and their
relationship to human life and purpose. Unlike philosophies that portray the
Earth as an abode of evil, ruled by malevolent creatures, Islam establishes in the believer’s heart that the Earth and all in
it are the property of Allah and we are His guests. It assures us that
we are welcome guests as long as we do not transgress the
Universal Laws of existence.
“In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
Allah, There is no God but He – The Living, The Self-subsisting,
Eternal.
It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step) in truth, The Book,
Confirming what went before it;
And He sent down the Law of Moses and the Gospel (of Jesus) before
this,
As a guide to mankind; and He sent down the Criterion (of judgment
between right and wrong).
Then those who reject faith in the signs of Allah will suffer the
severest penalty;
And Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution."
(Quran 3: 2 – 4)
The Quran
clarifies for all people that there is only
One Creator of the Universal environment and all in it. It points out
irrefutable truths to our hearts and minds. It identifies for all people
harmful behaviors and negative influences. It challenges all doubters and
arrogant humans to refute its evidence, if they can. It explains for everyone
the roots of existence, knowledge and behavior. It calls all people to build
their lives on truth and obedience to the One Creator Who has mercifully
given us the experience of Life. It also clearly assures all people that
rejecting this knowledge leads to an ignorant, harmful and confused existence
in the Universal environment and severe punishment from the Creator in the
future.
“In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:
O you people, adore your Guardian Lord, who created you
And those who came before you,
That you may become righteous…
..And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time
to Our servant,
Then produce a Surah like thereunto;
And call your witnesses or helpers (if there are any) besides Allah,
If your (doubts) are true.
But if you cannot – and of a surety you cannot –
Then fear the Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones –
Which is prepared for those who reject Faith.”
(Quran 2: 21 –
24)
